Release dates are for suckers, true fans start waiting in line before a product is even officially announced. While many of you don't live by this creed, Rob Shoesmith sure does.
Shoesmith, a marketer for app developer MEDL Mobile, has already claimed the first space in line for the eventual release of the Apple iPhone 5 at the Covent Garden Apple Store in London. Crazy? Perhaps, but for Shoesmith there is more in it for him than simply being among the first to get Apple's next smartphone, it's a PR experiment – or what some of us would like to call, a "publicity stunt."

Shoesmith is calling this the "iPhone 5 Experiment," for which he has set up camp outside of an Apple Store, but will be prohibited from purchasing any supplies personally, and instead relying on donated items and sponsors. And according to Gizmodo, the experiment has brought in over $64,000 worth of goods from individuals and companies like Domino's Pizza, Mountain Dew and Energizer.
You can follow Shoesmith's every step at the The iPhone 5 Experiment website. In the meantime, we'll be keeping an eye out as to which month the iPhone 5 will actually be released.
